Recently I connected my Laptop & my PC via a straight ethernet cable. I used the ip adress 192.168.1.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.3 for my PC & 192.168.1.3, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.2 for my Laptop. At first when I need to backup my data to PC, Both system behaved well connected & I transfered all my data to PC.
